Lin Hua’s face also wore a false, insincere smile.

She bent down to place the fresh flowers on the bedside table, then turned to Yu Mo and spoke.

“Yu Mo, do you really think you still have a chance to be involved in the management of the pharmaceutical factory?”

Now that everything had settled, she was the ultimate victor. Not only had she triumphed over Yu Mo in matters of the heart, but she had also surpassed her in her career—completely and utterly.

Yu Mo smiled calmly, as though she was indifferent to these words.

“It’s too early to say. We shall see,” she replied, picking up her bag, preparing to leave.

Lin Hua stepped forward, blocking her path.

“You can’t beat me, Yu Mo. Back in school, you overshadowed me in everything. I lived under your shadow every single day. Do you really think you won?”

Her face twisted, her smile turning chilling and grotesque.

“How am I any less than you? I am now the cherished daughter of the Chu family. Soon, the Chu family will publicly acknowledge me in the media. Next week, I’ll be engaged to Yan Ting Fu. I’ll be the future Mrs. Fu. What do you have to compete with me?”

Yu Mo lifted her eyelids, casting a sidelong glance at the now nearly unhinged Lin Hua.

Where was the gentle and demure persona she usually displayed? It was nothing but a mask for the world. This revealing, frantic side was likely her true self.

Yu Mo’s lips curled into a cold, detached smile.

“Lin Hua, I never wanted to compete with you. Never wanted to surpass you—not in school, not now. All that pressure is of your own making. Since you like Yan Ting Fu, I’ll let you have him. But the pharmaceutical factory is another matter. That’s Grandpa Fu’s life’s work. I won’t hand it over to you.”

“And as for your identity, I don’t care. Family background isn’t everything. Even with a good family, it doesn’t change the fact that you’re rotten to the core.”

“Is that so? Then we’ll just have to wait and see!” Lin Hua’s face contorted into a vicious sneer, her smile twisting with a malice that was hard to fathom.

Suddenly, she lunged forward and yanked out Grandpa Fu’s oxygen supply.

Yu Mo was stunned and tried to stop her, but it was too late.

“Lin Hua, what do you think you’re doing!”

In an instant, Lin Hua’s face transformed into a pitiful, pained expression, tears springing from her eyes as if on cue—enough to stir anyone’s sympathy.

Yu Mo pushed her aside and rushed to check on Grandpa Fu’s condition.

The machine began to emit a sharp, urgent beeping.

From Yu Mo’s shove, Lin Hua’s body went limp and she collapsed to the floor.

Yu Mo, focused entirely on Grandpa Fu, didn’t hear the hurried footsteps approaching from the corridor.

Yan Ting Fu entered the ward, a beautifully wrapped fruit basket in his hand. The first thing he saw was Lin Hua sprawled on the floor, and Yu Mo holding the oxygen tube.

Fury erupted in him. He rushed forward and shoved Yu Mo aside.

Yu Mo’s waist struck the corner of the bedside table, making her gasp in pain.

She looked up at Yan Ting Fu.

He was ablaze with anger, his eyes nearly spitting fire.

The urgent beeping quickly summoned the doctors and nurses. The room descended into chaos for a time before finally calming down.

The doctor sternly instructed the family not to touch the patient’s equipment.

Yan Ting Fu shot Yu Mo, who was still clutching her waist, a savage glare.

“What on earth happened?”

Why was this the scene he encountered upon entering?

He bent down to help Lin Hua up, his gaze once again landing on Yu Mo.

Before Yu Mo could answer, Lin Hua’s tearful voice piped up.

“Brother Yan Ting, this isn’t Yu Mo’s fault. It’s all mine. I failed to look after Grandpa…”

“Xiao Hua, what do you mean by that? You arrived before me. What exactly happened in that time?”

Lin Hua leaned closer into his embrace, tears welling up even more fiercely.

“Please, don’t ask, Brother Yan Ting. I don’t know anything—so long as Grandpa is alright, that’s all that matters.”

Yan Ting Fu gripped Lin Hua’s hand, his tone growing more urgent.

“Tell me what happened. How did the oxygen tube come out?”

“Please, don’t ask—it wasn’t Yu Mo.”

Without a single question to Yu Mo, Yan Ting Fu assigned all the blame to her.

He turned on Yu Mo, his voice harsh and accusing.

“Yu Mo! How dare you pull out Grandpa’s oxygen? If you have a grudge, take it out on me—don’t target him.”

Yu Mo stood to the side, watching helplessly as Lin Hua pushed all the blame onto her.

She spoke to Yan Ting Fu.

“I’ve been by Grandpa’s side for six years—longer than I ever spent with you. I’ve been the one looking after his health. What reason would I have to do such a thing? Use your brain for once and think it through.”

Her voice rose, growing angrier by the second.

How had she ever seen anything in a man like this?

She must have been blind—blind for six whole years.

Yan Ting Fu glared at Yu Mo, about to argue with her.

Lin Hua clung to his waist.

“Don’t be like this, Brother Yan Ting. Perhaps Yu Mo just acted on impulse. Don’t be angry with her.”

As she spoke, her tears fell in quick succession, pitiful and unrelenting.

“Yu Mo!” Yan Ting Fu tried to erupt, but the doctor intervened.

“Family members, please calm down. Don’t quarrel here; it might affect the patient’s condition.”

All three were ushered out of the ward by a nurse.

In the hospital lobby, the fire in Yan Ting Fu’s eyes never abated.

He spoke harshly.

“Yu Mo, I never should have hesitated today. I even considered casting my vote for you. You’re just an ingrate. You know full well how Grandpa has treated you all these years. After what you’ve done, I’ll never forgive you. Don’t bother coming to the pharmaceutical factory again. From now on, we have nothing more to do with each other!”

His words were resolute, as if a great weight pressed on his chest, making it hard for him to breathe.

Lin Hua, hearing this, was secretly startled.

He had actually considered giving his vote to that wretched Yu Mo.

Yu Mo was indeed cunning—on one hand, claiming to step aside for her, but on the other, still seducing Yan Ting Fu.

Absolutely shameless.

Yu Mo had no intention of responding to the now-deranged Yan Ting Fu.

Unless he calmed down, anything she said would be wasted—he would only see her as making excuses.

“Yan Ting Fu, you’d better wake up soon, or the Fu family will be ruined by your own hand.”

With those words, Yu Mo turned and left.

She would not bear such a heavy accusation for nothing.
