Outside the inn.

The mist had mostly dissipated, but the entire village was left a chaotic ruin. Countless boulders had tumbled onto the roads, shattered into fragments. The once densely clustered stone houses had all but vanished, leaving only vast, barren stone walls behind.

It seemed the villagers had withdrawn their stone dwellings, likely intending to wait until the Siren Head departed before setting them out again, to prevent any damage.

"Welcome to Huami Mobile!"

The phone finally powered on. The time was four fifty-eight in the morning, just minutes away from five o’clock. Yeda glanced at the signal bar.

He now had one bar, and it was rising. In barely a minute, two bars appeared, and soon it would be full.

Indeed... Only at this hour each day was there a signal!

Taking advantage of the connection, Yeda hurriedly sent Dali a text: "Dali, there’s signal every day at five in the morning and at nine at night. Log in exactly at those times!"

There was no time for details—Yeda could only send the most urgent information.

Just as he finished messaging Dali and was about to text Ning Qingcheng to let her know he was safe—

"Zzz~"

A crackling sound came from outside the village.

As the electrical noise grew, his phone screen began to distort, as if suffering from severe electromagnetic interference.

Yeda’s heart skipped—was it Siren Head?

Sure enough...

He soon heard shouting from outside the village:

"Don’t let it sound its siren!"

"Attack it, quick, hit its siren head! Damaging its siren will make it slow for a moment!"

Immediately, thunderous explosions erupted outside.

"Boom!"

"Rumble!"

The shockwaves shook the ground, and with each tremor, more boulders crashed from the village walls, falling like rain from above.

One massive stone, the size of an old 29-inch TV, rolled right up to Yeda—if he hadn’t dodged in time, he would have been flattened.

"Woof! Woof woof!"

The two wolf pups barked fiercely at the stone that had nearly harmed Yeda.

"Little Grey, Little White."

Yeda quickly calmed the pups, not wanting to attract the monster’s attention. "Hurry, let’s go!"

The boulder had torn a huge gap in the wall. Peering through it, Yeda saw a towering, slender silhouette outside—the head was adorned with several siren-shaped fleshy growths, intermittently bursting with flames as it was attacked.

A battle of this scale meant death for anyone who got involved!

Yeda sped up his escape, grateful the village had more than one exit. He fled toward the opposite direction from the battlefield.

Recalling the route Lin Zhi had shown him yesterday, Yeda used his analysis glasses to pinpoint his location.

He found the path to the Novice Forest and dashed forward.

"Bzz!"

"Bzz!!"

He hadn’t gotten far from the village when his phone began vibrating wildly—someone was messaging him.

He reached for the phone, intending to check the sender—

"Tap tap!"

"Tap tap tap!"

From behind came a familiar tapping, sending chills down his spine. Yeda remembered the terror of fleeing with Lin Zhi, haunted by the giant spider.

Please don’t let it be...

He silently prayed that the tapping wasn't from the Graystone Spider.

Quickly, Yeda glanced back—

"Splurt!"

The creature behind spat a mouthful of green saliva, landing near a tree close to Yeda.

The tree sizzled as acid ate into it, releasing clouds of pungent white smoke.

This moment left Yeda no room for doubt.

"Graystone Spider!!!"

"Woof! Woof woof!"

Yeda had planned to follow the stone wall and find yesterday’s cave exit, but after a few steps, he crossed paths with the Graystone Spider again.

Apparently, its nest was nearby!

Now, without Lin Zhi's stone house to hide in, Yeda had only his wits to divert the giant spider.

Otherwise, with its speed, it would catch up to them in no time!

"Little Grey, Little White, into the forest!"

He shouted, leading the wolf pups into the woods.

But he didn't expect the forest to be much of a barrier—spiders are adept at navigating trees and undergrowth.

"Tap tap!"

"Crack, rumble!"

Tree after tree was snapped by the Graystone Spider. Frustrated by failing to catch its prey, it sprayed venom everywhere—droplets fell like rain.

Some splashed onto Yeda’s skin, sizzling and smoking, stinging as if bathed in acid, the pain almost sending his soul reeling.

"If this keeps up, even if I escape its bite, I’ll be poisoned to death!"

Yeda hurled a Boomberry deep into the forest.

"Boom!!!"

A thunderous blast toppled several trees. Branches and debris flew everywhere; even though Yeda wasn't close to the explosion, he was still struck painfully by flying wood fragments.

With the explosion, the tapping sound quickly moved toward it.

As expected...

A spider’s nature is ever-curious.

When Yeda first entered the forest, he wondered why the Graystone Spider always appeared when they entered the Graystone Mountains.

He soon guessed it had sharp hearing—any disturbance would draw it in.

Indeed...

The Boomberry’s detonation lured the spider away.

Seizing the moment, Yeda ran with the wolf pups toward the Graystone Mountains!

His phone kept vibrating.

In a panic, he glanced at it—several texts, some from Dali, some from Ning Qingcheng—but he had no time to reply.

He couldn’t know when the Graystone Spider might return.

He had to reach the cannibal’s cave, only then could he finally read and respond safely.

If he stopped now, it would mean certain death!
