Chapter 126: Beat Until They Wake Up

“An actual woman?” Chu Ping exclaimed in astonishment.
Ye Da’s voice turned cold. “She dared steal from me. Woman or not, she dies!”
“Whoosh!”
As he spoke, the spirit-energy arrow had already arrived!
Yet the woman remained completely unruffled. She parted her tiny cherry lips and blew out another bubble.
The bubble was like a prison of light capable of sealing all things. With astonishing ease, it trapped Ye Da’s spirit-energy arrow inside.
The spirit-energy arrow, which had been overwhelmingly powerful before, became like the filament inside a light bulb once it entered the bubble, steadily radiating a brilliant glow that illuminated the entire sphere.
Yet it could not break through the bubble at all. Instead, it floated in midair together with it.
After blowing the bubble, the woman glanced at Ye Da again. The corner of her mouth curled into a smile. Then, with a slight parting of her red lips, she uttered a single word.
“Bang!”
Sure enough, the bubble floating in midair exploded.
The instant the iridescent soap bubble burst, the spirit-energy arrow inside vanished without a trace, like a mirage!
“Hee-hee.”
Only after watching the soap bubble burst did the woman smile sweetly. She pulled up her hood and continued running away with the bronze treasure chest in her arms.
“That ability is far too powerful,” Ye Da muttered with a frown.
“Lord, should I pursue her underground?” Chu Ping asked.
“No need.” Ye Da took out the map and glanced at it. “She has taken my things. She won’t get away.”
“But she’s already…” Chu Ping did not dare finish the sentence. She had, in fact, already gotten away.
“Treating your illness comes first.”
Ye Da put away the map and supported Chu Ping, whose face had turned ashen. “We’ll make the medicine first. Once the poison has been neutralized, I’ll naturally settle the score with that woman!”
“My lord, I’m fine—Urgh!”
Chu Ping had only spoken halfway when he suddenly vomited a large amount of blood. Not only was the blood black, but it even contained things resembling scraps of flesh.
Only then did Chu Ping realize that something seemed wrong with him.
“How strange.” Chu Ping felt his forehead. “My lord, why do I… Why do I feel dizzy? Was that an earthquake? Everything seems to be spinning.”
“There’s no earthquake. You’ve merely been poisoned.”

Ye Da brought Chu Ping to a rocky cliff and immediately pressed the stone house sphere against the rock face. While waiting for the sphere to merge with the cliff, Ye Da used snow to clean the surface of his skin, rubbing away as much of the mucus as possible.
Although this was not as effective as rinsing with water, it was still better than doing nothing.
Fortunately…
After being scrubbed with a large amount of snow, the stinging sensation on Ye Da’s skin had lessened considerably. It now felt only slightly hot and irritated, rather like sunburn.
This proved that most of the corrosive substance on the surface had been removed!
What remained could only be dealt with through proper washing.
After clearing away the corrosive substance, Ye Da finally dispelled his stone-skin state. As expected, his skin was covered in extensive redness and swelling, but fortunately, it had not begun to peel.
His condition was much better than Chu Ping’s.
“Chu Ping?!”
Ye Da looked toward Chu Ping and discovered that, at some point, Chu Ping had already closed his eyes, as though he had fallen into a deathlike sleep.
He was now severely poisoned. If he truly fell asleep, he might never wake up again.
Ye Da hurried over and called out to him. “Chu Ping, wake up! Whatever you do, don’t fall asleep. If you do, you may never wake up again!”
“Don’t you still need to see your daughter?”
“Chu Ping!”
Ye Da shouted several times, but Chu Ping remained utterly motionless, like a corpse.
Fortunately, there was a special connection between Ye Da and Chu Ping, so he knew that…
Chu Ping was not dead!
“Smack!”
Ye Da slapped Chu Ping directly across the face. “Wake up!”
“If you keep sleeping, you’ll never see your daughter again!”
After being slapped, Chu Ping showed a faint reaction. He opened his mouth and mumbled something like a dream.
“Hm? Nannan’s coming back…”
“Smack!”
Seeing that the slap had worked, Ye Da immediately began striking him with both hands, relentlessly raining blows upon Chu Ping!
“Smack, smack!”
“Smack-smack-smack!”
After being slapped repeatedly, Chu Ping finally jolted fully awake.
“Ah! That hurts! My lord, how did I suddenly fall asleep?”
“You were probably tired.”

Seeing Chu Ping awaken, Ye Da hurriedly stopped and silently opened the stone house door, pretending that nothing had happened.
Chu Ping shook his head, then reached up to touch his face. “My lord, why do I feel… Why does my face hurt terribly, as though someone had hit me?”
“That’s your imagination. It’s all in your head.” Ye Da opened the door and let the two wolf pups enter first, then said, “Hurry inside. It’s too cold out here. Your face was probably numbed by the cold wind.”
“Is that so?”
Chu Ping was somewhat puzzled. Being chilled should not cause this kind of pain.
It ought to have been a prickling sensation, yet why did his face feel swollen, to the point that even touching it hurt? Something was definitely wrong.
“Whine~”
Just then, as Little Gray passed by Chu Ping, it cast him a sympathetic glance.
This only made Chu Ping even more confused.
What exactly had happened to him?
Why was even the dog looking at him with such a pitiful expression?
He could not figure it out.
Since he could not figure it out, he decided not to think about it. Chu Ping hurried into the stone house and shut the door.
Ye Da was afraid that Chu Ping might pass out again, so he could think of nothing else. He quickly went to the medicine-making table, opened the compendium of medicinal ingredients, and found the formula for the antidote.
[Antidote: 1 unit of concentrated nectar from the Giant Insect-Eating Flower, with the entire flower sac permitted; 1 unit of Ghost-Face Vine; 1 unit of charcoal ash.]
The ingredients were simple. Ye Da promptly placed them all into the small box on the medicine-making table.
The medicine-making table immediately began preparing the medicine automatically with a clatter of ringing sounds!
While the table worked, Ye Da first instructed Chu Ping, “Chu Ping, you are not allowed to sit down. Walk around the room and look around. No resting!”
“What?” Chu Ping asked in confusion. “But my lord, I feel so tired. Can I lean against something for a while?”
“No!”
Ye Da rejected him outright.
It was not that he was being cruel. Chu Ping’s current condition was one of borrowed time, sustained only by a final breath of life.
If he allowed Chu Ping to fall asleep again, Ye Da truly had no confidence that he could wake him a second time!
“Then… all right.”
Chu Ping felt aggrieved, but he still obeyed.
He shifted from a fleeting return of vitality in the midst of mortal illness into the state of a wandering ghost.
Perhaps because he had not a shred of mental energy left, Chu Ping hunched over with both arms hanging limply at his sides, wandering aimlessly through the stone house.
He looked exactly like a zombie.
