A Zhe glanced at the information and couldn’t help but take a sharp breath, exclaiming in awe, “This Fluffy Ram actually has the power of an ace professional—that’s impressive! Ordinary Electrodons probably only reach this level.”
Beside him, Xiao Zhu added, “A Zhe, look, this Fluffy Ram can even use ‘Electromagnetic Levitation.’ That way, when it battles flying-type monsters, it can minimize its disadvantages.”
A Zhe nodded and glanced at the price. “Yes, the cost is reasonable. Shall we rent this creature?”
“This one, for sure!”
……
Having selected the rental duration, A Zhe pressed the [Rent] button on his phone.
As he watched the points in his account instantly deducted, a faint pang of regret rose in his heart.
Beside him, Xiao Zhu opened a black backpack in the corner of the room and took out a strange, square device.
The box was square and sturdy, with a small black-and-white screen on the front, and a miniature keyboard of letters and numbers beneath it. The interior was hollow, with dark red glowing patterns that emitted a hint of mystery. At the bottom, there was a deep, round recess.
A Zhe took the peculiar box from Xiao Zhu and, following the long string of codes provided by the “Dark Star” platform on his phone, began tapping them into the device’s keyboard.
Click, click.
The crisp sound of keys echoed through the room.
After quite a while, A Zhe finally entered the full code, then lowered his head to double-check several times. When he was sure there were no errors, he pressed the confirmation key heavily.
Bzzzz...
The black box vibrated slightly, a faint mechanical whirring coming from inside as the dark red patterns glowed brighter and brighter.
Ding!
Soon after, a clear chime rang out, and the box became calm again.
Unable to contain her excitement any longer, Xiao Zhu quickly opened the lid on top of the box.
“Hoo…”
Puffing her cheeks, Xiao Zhu blew away the faint white smoke produced by the machine’s high output, then craned her neck to peer inside.
“Wow! A Zhe, come here—this is a Pokéball I’ve never seen before!”
Overcome by her curiosity, Xiao Zhu called excitedly to A Zhe while reaching in to grab the strange Pokéball.
Zzzzt!
Just as her fingers were about to touch the ball, a faint current arced across its surface, making her arm tingle.
“Ah!” she cried out in surprise, instinctively pulling her hand back.
“What happened?” A Zhe, startled by her sudden shout, quickly asked.
“It’s nothing, nothing. This Pokéball is amazing—it’s electrified! Hehe.” Xiao Zhu shook her slightly numb right hand and explained with a silly grin.
Now, A Zhe’s curiosity was piqued as well. He stepped forward and peered into the box.
On the surface of the black-and-yellow ball, a faint light shimmered, and threads of electricity danced in the air around it. At the center button, a small lightning symbol was printed.
“Wow!” A Zhe couldn’t help but exclaim at its extraordinary appearance.
Then, carefully, he reached in and grasped the ball in a swift movement.
A cool sensation met his fingertips.
Forcing himself to ignore the mild tingling, A Zhe lifted the Pokéball out of the box.
“A Zhe, do you recognize this type of Pokéball?” Xiao Zhu stared at the strange Pokéball in his hand, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
A Zhe shook his head, a trace of caution in his gaze. “No, but it’s definitely a top-tier Pokéball. This Fluffy Ram’s background is clearly unusual.”
“A Zhe, A Zhe—hurry and let the Fluffy Ram out. Let’s see what’s so special about it!” Xiao Zhu urged, her curiosity burning.
A Zhe nodded, then lightly tossed the black-and-yellow Pokéball into the air.
Zzzzt!
With a faint yellow electric glow, the Pokéball spun rapidly in the air, then suddenly halted.
The center button lit up slightly, and the ball split open.
Whoosh!
Unlike the usual red light that emerged from a typical Pokéball, this custom ball hovered in the air and released thick, swirling black mist.
Within the eerie darkness, bright yellow currents flashed like thunderclouds brewing a storm.
Slowly, the black mist spread and filled most of the room.
Plop!
As a soft landing sound echoed, the currents within the mist began to rage like boiling water.
Zzzzt!
Amidst the pitch-black fog, a ray of yellow light suddenly shot up like the first sun at dawn. The electricity screamed sharply as it converged at the center.
Boom!
A formless magnetic field swept through, carrying wild electric currents that scattered the black mist. The television, which had been playing in the room, went dark with a loud pop.
A Zhe partially closed his eyes, his hair lifted and tossed by the forceful current.
Plop!
The Pokéball fell to the floor.
At the center of the room, a Fluffy Ram with a faint green glow on its chest stood, its body brimming with electricity as it opened its eyes.
“It’s… it’s… it’s so cool!!” Xiao Zhu cried out, her eyes shining like stars.
Lu Yun, hearing this, curled his lips, thinking the client for this mission seemed a bit unreliable.
On the other side, A Zhe quietly wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, then walked over to Lu Yun, crouched down, and spoke in a deep voice.
“Hello, Fluffy Ram. We’re the ones who commissioned you for this mission.”
“I’m A Zhe, and this is Xiao Zhu. We’ll be counting on you for this assignment.”
Lu Yun, seeing the serious look on A Zhe’s face, nodded, thinking at least one person here was normal.
Seeing A Zhe finish the introductions, Xiao Zhu hurried over to Lu Yun’s side, unable to contain her curiosity as she bombarded him with questions.
Lu Yun could only nod perfunctorily, a little exasperated.
Knock, knock, knock!
Suddenly, a knocking sounded at the door and a voice called from outside.
“Guests, are you all right in there?”
Realizing the ruckus they’d caused, A Zhe hastily recalled Lu Yun into the Pokéball while responding loudly, “It’s fine, it’s fine! Just took a little spill.”
“All right, well, if you need anything, you can call customer service.”
“Okay, thank you!”
Watching as the staff left, A Zhe let out a relieved breath.
Looking down at the black-and-yellow Pokéball in his hand, he felt a surge of confidence about the task ahead.
