Chapter 85: This Man Is Simply Irresistible
His fingertip brushed against soft, smooth skin, faintly cool to the touch.
Wen Nan instinctively tried to pull his hand back, but the other gripped his wrist tightly, pressing his palm against that patch of skin.
In the end, Wen Nan gave up resisting, letting his fingers gently caress the tattoo.
The warmth and roughness of his fingertip lightly scraped over the nail-sized character for “Nine,” tracing carefully around the tattoo’s edges, where the skin was still slightly flushed.
That spot on Sun Yi’s skin was sensitive; she couldn’t bear such stimulation. The muscles in her leg tensed, her toes curled, but she bit her lip and didn’t pull away.
A smile remained on her face as she stared straight at him, wanting to catch every subtle expression on his face.
Wen Nan looked up, meeting her gaze. “When did you get it?”
Softly, Sun Yi replied, “When I decided I wanted you to be my boyfriend.”
She sat up a bit more, her fingers teasing apart the lace at her edge. “I have another tattoo—a character for ‘Night’—higher up. Do you want to touch it?”
Wen Nan took a deep breath and withdrew his hand.
“No,” he said after a pause, shaking his head. “That’s not what I was asking about.”
A flicker of disappointment passed through Sun Yi’s eyes, but she quickly composed herself—he was willing to let her spend the night at his place; that was already enough.
She smiled again, bracing herself on her hands, leaning back, legs casually parted in front of Wen Nan, her head tilted as she said, “I know, you want to ask about that secret place.”
“Yes,” Wen Nan admitted frankly, meeting her eyes. “Can you tell me?”
Given Sun Yi’s personality, knowing how much he wanted this secret, she should have refused or given a vague answer, keeping him guessing and unable to let her go.
But refusing this man before her—it was just too hard.
She couldn’t do it!
Damn it! Why did this man seem to shine from head to toe, how could every inch of him be so captivating?
Faced with his question, she felt she had no choice but to answer everything—
“In your Erin Group headquarters building, there’s a mysterious g-spot. Everyone who’s lived around here knows that.
“At first, I thought it was just a gimmick—rumors made up by bored office workers for fun.
“But that day, I went to wait for you after work but missed you. I was bored and squatting by the altar, feeding stray cats. One of the kittens led me behind your building, to the bike shed…
“That’s where I saw the hidden door.
“Only then did I realize those rumors weren’t just stories—they were all true.”
Hearing this, Wen Nan fell silent.
The bike shed behind the main building…
So, after questioning four targets, he’d gotten four completely different answers.
Seeing his silence, Sun Yi spoke up: “Uncle, why are you asking about this?”
Wen Nan snapped out of his thoughts, smiled at her, and gently ruffled her delicate hair. “No reason, just curious.”
He sat up from the sofa, poured two glasses of red wine—one for himself, one for Sun Yi.
“To Sun Yi, congratulations on stepping into a new chapter of life!”
Sun Yi pouted. “Uncle, your toast is so cheesy.”
9527: [Congratulations, target ‘the lost girl who won’t leave after being rescued’—affection rating increased to 85%.]
Wen Nan laughed, drained his glass, and stood up.
“All right, it’s about time. I have to head out and might be back late. Don’t wait up for me. If you’re tired, rest first. There are disposable towels and bathrobes in the cabinet behind the bathroom door—help yourself. If you need anything else, contact me anytime.”
With those words, Wen Nan turned and hurried out.
He walked down the corridor to another door at the end, straightened his collar and cuffs, and was about to knock when—
“Hey.”
A familiar voice called from behind.
Wen Nan turned to see Yu Shujun leaning against the wall, as aloof as ever, watching him expressionlessly. Her tone was flat: “Be careful out there, Master.”
Wen Nan: ?
He furrowed his brow, eyeing her suspiciously.
The haughty, cool Yu Shujun, suddenly showing concern and warning him to be careful?
Wen Nan opened his mouth, wanting to ask more, but her figure had already melted into the darkness—she clearly didn’t intend to pursue the topic.
He glanced at the time—it was already 7:50 p.m. After meeting the young wife, he still had a date with Guan Ailin at the cinema; his schedule was packed, and he really couldn’t spare any more thoughts for Yu Shujun.
In the end, Wen Nan turned and pressed the young wife’s doorbell.
He rang several times, but no one answered.
Wen Nan found it odd and pulled up his chat with Li Shuyi.
The last message she’d sent was at five that afternoon—a “see you there” followed by a kissing emoji.
Nearly three hours had passed since, and she hadn’t messaged him again. Now it was almost eight, but there hadn’t been any reminders or questions.
He pressed the doorbell again, twice, but still nothing.
Wen Nan was considering whether to call when the door slowly opened.
Li Shuyi appeared behind it.
She wore a cream-colored, knee-length loungewear dress, the fabric soft and thin, no underwear beneath, her figure’s contours outlined against the cloth.
She was nothing like the polished, radiant woman he’d seen in the CEO’s office. Now, Li Shuyi had no makeup on, her face pale and weary.
Her hair was loosely gathered into a side ponytail draped over her chest.
She lifted her gaze to Wen Nan, her eyes full of confusion and surprise.
“Mr. Ye?”
She froze for a moment, then quickly recovered, pulling the door wide and stepping aside, gesturing him in. “Please, come in.”
Wen Nan entered, surveying the apartment.
Though on the same floor, this unit was at least three times larger than his own rental. The living room was cluttered with clothes, the kitchen and dining area dark and unused, the place not at all prepared for company.
She closed the door, fetched a pair of new men’s slippers from the cabinet, and apologized earnestly, “Sorry, I didn’t have time to tidy up. It’s a bit messy.”
Wen Nan glanced at the slippers—brand new, clearly prepared just for him.
“It’s fine, I’m the one imposing.” He slipped on the slippers, smiling at her.
Li Shuyi had already hurried to the sofa to gather up the scattered clothes, taking them into the bedroom. Before she left, she said, “Please, have a seat and help yourself to some fruit.”
Wen Nan sat on the sofa. On the coffee table was a fruit platter, next to a box of candles, a pack of disposable plates and utensils, and several paper crowns—
The kind of accessories that came with custom birthday cakes.
Li Shuyi soon returned, smiling. “Mr. Ye, would you like something to drink? Or something to eat?”
Wen Nan asked, “Can I have some birthday cake?”
At his words, her smile vanished, confusion flickering in her eyes.
“Wh-what birthday cake?”
The current situation is stable; it probably won’t blow up so easily.
As for starting a group, let’s wait a bit—the results aren’t great right now, and I’m afraid no one would join and I’d look like a clown.
