Chapter 4: Bai Qingya's Shame and Fury
The little girl wore two faces—one of innocence and purity, the other cold and ruthless. This duality in her character was the result of her Frostbone Physique. If left unguided, she would either die tormented by illness or become a demon among men. In this world, the only person she trusted was her elder sister, Bai Qingxue; apart from her, she believed in no one. Thus, only before Bai Qingxue did she appear as a harmless little girl.
“How did I deceive her?”
“You think you’re capable of curing my illness? Ridiculous! Tell me, what’s your real motive for fooling my sister?”
“And if I said I wasn’t lying to her?”
Lu Fei smiled. A personality twisted by an afflicted body—such odd thoughts were only natural.
“You think I’m as easy to fool as my sister?” Bai Qingya’s voice was as sharp as a blade; just from her tone, she sounded more mature than her elder sister. In truth, she understood everything.
Yet in Lu Fei’s eyes, she was just like any other child—nothing but a brat.
With a provocative tilt to his voice, he said, “Your sister never got tricked into a room with me alone.”
Hatred flashed in Bai Qingya’s eyes.
Suddenly, her body arched like a cat’s, and she sprang forward, seizing the fruit knife from the table. Though she had never trained, her movements were as fluid and precise as a professional assassin's. She raised the knife and plunged it toward Lu Fei.
In that instant, she almost succeeded.
Lu Fei moved with a flourish, his palm slicing toward her wrist.
A sharp crack echoed as he struck her wrist fiercely and snatched the knife away.
“Children shouldn’t play with sharp things,” he chided her like a stern father.
Enraged, Bai Qingya grew frantic, her fingers clawing like a tigress as she lunged for Lu Fei’s throat.
He slipped his hand down her waist, scooped her up, and slung her over his shoulder.
Bai Qingya’s body lost all leverage, flailing helplessly as she hung in midair.
“Let go of me!”
A resounding smack followed.
A strange cry escaped her throat.
The force of Lu Fei’s hand seemed to penetrate her entire being, resonating through every corner of her body.
She had never felt anything like it before.
It struck straight to her soul.
If she could have seen Lu Fei’s palm at that moment, she would have noticed a fiery glow emanating from it.
This was the blazing sun energy he was using to harmonize the icy aura within her.
“Still think you can challenge me?” Lu Fei scolded sternly. A little brat pretending at maturity in front of him—he couldn’t abide it.
Bai Qingya gritted her teeth, still unwilling to believe Lu Fei could truly cure her. Her sister must have been duped by him! She would never submit.
As for the strange sensations coursing through her body, it never occurred to her that these were Lu Fei’s healing methods.
“What… what exactly do you want from me?”
Lu Fei smirked crookedly. Even now, she was still putting up a front?
“What do I want? Naturally, I want to cure you.”
“Let go of me! I don’t want your treatment!”
“That’s not for you to decide.”
Slap after slap resounded. No matter how stubborn Bai Qingya was, no matter how fiercely she resisted, her body could not withstand it.
Eventually, her voice faded to a whisper, unable to hold out any longer.
Seeing she’d had enough, Lu Fei tossed her onto the bed.
Lying face-down, Bai Qingya’s body trembled, slick with fragrant sweat that soaked her thin clothes until they were nearly translucent.
Her skin, delicate as jade, became faintly visible, revealing an unrivaled beauty.
She bit her lip, torn between the unprecedented comfort in her body and the humiliation of being bullied by Lu Fei.
“This grudge—I will repay it! Just you wait!”
Dazed and muddled, her mind was filled only with thoughts of vengeance.
At last, she drifted into deep sleep.
Nearly twenty hours passed before Bai Qingya awoke. She found Lu Fei sitting at her bedside, observing her.
A storm of grief and anger whirled within her.
“You're finally awake. Your illness will need gradual care—”
Before Lu Fei could finish, Bai Qingya threw on her clothes and rushed out.
...
“Xiaoya, you look so much better today! It seems Brother Lu’s treatment is working!” Bai Qingxue had been waiting all day to see the effects of Lu Fei’s healing. With no news, she hadn’t dared disturb him. Now, seeing her sister, her first impression was that Bai Qingya seemed like a different person entirely.
“Sis, how did you even meet that man?” Bai Qingya bit her lip, recalling the humiliation she’d suffered at Lu Fei’s hands. Her cheeks flushed and heart raced—she was seething.
“Don’t worry about that. Just tell me—did Brother Lu’s treatment help?”
“No! I won’t let him treat me again!”
“Xiaoya, what’s gotten into you? Did… did he do something to you?” Bai Qingxue had never seen her younger sister like this. Bai Qingya was always adorable and obedient before her, never showing such negative emotion.
Bai Qingya fumed, “He… he’s not even human!”
Thunderstruck, Bai Qingxue’s world collapsed—did this mean Lu Fei had tried something against her sister? If that were true, she would have no chance for revenge. Even someone like Yin Tiancheng had to kneel before Lu Fei. What woman could resist him if he set his sights?
“No… it wasn’t like that…” Bai Qingya clarified.
Still, she huffed. In any case, Lu Fei was up to no good.
Bai Qingxue breathed a sigh of relief. As long as Lu Fei hadn’t crossed a line, she could accept everything else.
“If that’s so, you must continue your treatment. You look so much better today.” She was determined—her sister must be cured.
“Forget it, I’m not talking about this anymore.” Seeing it was pointless to argue, Bai Qingya could only sulk in silence.
...
Meanwhile, Lu Fei received a call from Jiang Meijia.
“Come to my house and meet my parents,” she commanded crisply before hanging up.
After the call, Lu Fei took a cab straight to Jiang Meijia’s home.
The Jiang family was prominent, residing in the renowned luxury villa district of Bianjing. It was dinnertime, and her parents had prepared a Western meal specifically to meet their future son-in-law.
“This is the Jiang residence,” Lu Fei murmured, gazing at the plaque above the villa’s gates, excitement rising within him.
After all, Jiang Meijia was the first woman in his life—it was only natural for him to feel such anticipation.
