Yang Ze had not forgotten the purpose of his return to the Scripture Repository: to find a martial art or cultivation method suited to him. He had only two hours. With so many techniques gathered here, failing to make good use of his time and wasting this opportunity would leave him heartbroken.

At the Ethereal Martial Academy, everything depended on contribution points. Two hours was not even enough for someone to learn a single cultivation method or martial art, so he had to use every moment to the fullest.

If he had enough time, Yang Ze would have liked to wander around the first floor and see whether any of the martial arts and cultivation methods he had practiced were recorded here.

After stepping onto the second floor, he found that there were fewer registered disciples here than on the first floor, though not by much.

The cultivation methods and martial arts on the second floor all required True Origin Qi for practice. They were also considerably more difficult than those on the first floor. The techniques in the Scripture Repository had been arranged according to their difficulty.

As for their power, that was another matter entirely.

Yang Ze did not proceed to the third floor, for it was a place he could not yet reach. From what he understood, access to the third floor depended not on strength, but on a single thing: contribution points.

So long as one had enough contribution points, even a registered disciple with only First-Stage True Origin Qi could go up.

Yang Ze currently had no contribution points at all, and thus was not qualified to enter the third floor. He could only remain on the second.

Even so, the second floor was more than enough for him to examine for now. At a glance, he saw that there were an extraordinary number of bookshelves.

Each shelf held a considerable collection of martial arts and cultivation methods. He feared he would not even be able to finish looking through everything on this floor.

Daring not to waste any more time, Yang Ze walked forward.

The divisions within the Scripture Repository were quite clear. Martial arts were kept in one section, while inner cultivation methods were kept in another, allowing the disciples to distinguish between them and avoid wasting time.

After looking at the two different signs marking the martial arts and cultivation methods, Yang Ze ultimately walked toward the martial arts section.

There was no other reason than this: as far as cultivation methods were concerned, he already had the Qi-Nurturing Formula. The Qi-Nurturing Formula had transformed all the true qi from the Sea Heart Formula and the One Qi Skill into True Origin Qi. Although the Black Stone gave Yang Ze the ability to practice several cultivation methods and martial arts at once, practicing another cultivation method would simply waste too much time.

The registered disciples who came to study inner cultivation methods did not possess the Black Stone. They could not practice several cultivation methods simultaneously as Yang Ze could.

They were merely dissatisfied with the power of the Qi-Nurturing Formula and had come here in search of a stronger cultivation method to practice.

Yang Ze, however, did not particularly care about that. The Qi-Nurturing Formula had become the most widely practiced cultivation method among the human race, and there was surely a reason for that.

Moreover, after being perfected by the Black Stone, the Qi-Nurturing Formula was no longer the same as the version circulated throughout the Nine Provinces. This was the most perfect form of the technique, and Yang Ze had no intention of wasting time practicing any unnecessary cultivation methods.

When he reached the martial arts section, Yang Ze saw that the rows of bookshelves were divided into numerous categories.

Finger techniques, fist techniques, palm techniques, leg techniques, sword techniques, movement techniques, saber techniques, staff techniques, and many others filled the shelves. The sheer variety was enough to make anyone dizzy.

Yang Ze did not act rashly. He considered what he needed most at present.

Of all the saber arts he possessed, he had mastered the Black Tiger Saber Art, while the Windward One-Slash and the Flying Swallow Thunderbolt Saber remained unfinished. As for fist and foot techniques, he had the Ninefold Spiral Finger.

After comparing everything, he realized that his greatest weakness now lay in movement techniques.

Yang Ze had indeed never obtained a suitable movement technique. Whenever he faced an enemy, he could either rely on his cultivation to forcefully evade attacks or grit his teeth and confront them head-on.

A movement technique was essential. If he encountered an exceptionally powerful opponent, it would at least allow him to maneuver around them and fight on more favorable terms.

Having made up his mind, Yang Ze headed toward the movement-technique section and began scanning the rows of shelves.

Cloudflight Steps, Gale Kicks…

One name after another appeared before his eyes. Some martial arts had very ordinary names, while others bore grand and imposing titles, as though they were peerless divine arts.

However, after taking down several of the techniques with impressive names and flipping through them, Yang Ze merely shook his head and returned them to their places.

They were nothing more than low-grade martial arts. Their names sounded magnificent, but their contents and the power they claimed to possess were hardly worthy of praise. They were all ordinary fare.

After wandering around for quite some time, Yang Ze finally chose a martial art called the Great Whirling Edge-Breaking Steps. He had looked through it roughly and found it the most satisfying.

The footwork of the Great Whirling Edge-Breaking Steps was not limited to evasion. While dodging, the practitioner also circulated their True Origin Qi, raising their momentum before finding a precise opening and unleashing it in a burst to strike the enemy's weak point and deliver a fatal blow.

The technique had a weakness as well: it was not fast enough. Though sufficiently agile, it lacked speed, and when an enemy unleashed overwhelming pressure, the practitioner would often be unable to withstand it.

Although the technique had its flaws, Yang Ze did not care very much. All the martial arts in this section of the Scripture Repository had their shortcomings. Perhaps the quality of the techniques on Qingyang Peak was simply limited to this level.

Seeing that the two hours were nearly over, Yang Ze could only return the Great Whirling Edge-Breaking Steps to its place. Without any contribution points, he had no way to make a copy of it.

He felt somewhat troubled. At the Ethereal Martial Academy, even money was useless. Everything depended on contribution points. It seemed that he truly needed to start taking on missions.

Besides, registered disciples were required to complete three missions every month, yet he had not completed even one. He could not continue like this.

As the time limit approached, Yang Ze hurried down from the second floor and left the Scripture Repository. This time, he did not dare disturb Zhang Chengxuan again.

He had only just stepped outside when more than a dozen people suddenly appeared and blocked his path.

Among them, Yang Ze recognized a familiar face: the man from the Yishui Sect. The moment he saw him, Yang Ze understood everything.

“You are all from the Yishui Sect?”

Yang Ze showed no fear and continued standing where he was.

“That’s right. We are all from the Yishui Sect.” The man who had invited Yang Ze—and been rejected—spoke with a disdainful smile on his face.

“Kid, watch your tone. The name of the Yishui Sect is not something someone like you can casually invoke.” A fat man standing beside him shouted at Yang Ze, looking as though he was about to attack.

Yang Ze remained completely calm. He merely looked at them and said evenly, “Then may I ask what brings you all here?”

“You really are bold. Even now, you can remain so composed. We have three people at the Eighth Stage of True Origin Qi, while everyone else is at the Seventh Stage. I truly wonder where you found the courage.”

This time, it was a dark-faced man standing on the other side of the group who spoke.

Yang Ze swept his gaze over the three men who had spoken. It seemed that the three of them had reached the Eighth Stage of True Origin Qi.

“You came looking for me because you think I slighted the Yishui Sect by refusing to join you, and now you want to save face. Am I right?”

Looking at the group, Yang Ze had not expected the registered disciples of the prestigious Ethereal Martial Academy to behave like the street thugs of his former life, coming to settle a score over something as trivial as pride.

Although Yang Ze appeared calm on the surface, he did not underestimate them in the slightest. They had tracked down his whereabouts so quickly, and the Yishui Sect had brought out so many experts at once. That was enough to prove that the sect possessed considerable influence.

“You have a sharp mind. I will give you one more chance. Will you join the Yishui Sect? If you do, everything that happened today can be wiped clean.”

The man who had invited Yang Ze spoke once more.

“Not just anyone is allowed to enter the Yishui Sect. We believe you have potential, which is why we are giving you another opportunity,” the dark-faced man added.

“Potential? I think you simply believe I would make a suitable free enforcer for you.” Yang Ze gave a disdainful laugh.

“Kid, you really are impossibly arrogant. How dare you speak like that?” The hot-tempered fat man flew into a rage when he heard Yang Ze's words and lunged directly at him.

When Yang Ze saw him coming, he did not meet the attack head-on. He retreated several steps and slipped aside, but before he could evade very far, the others had already closed in from every direction.

“He refuses a toast, only to be forced to drink a forfeit. Tie the boy up and take him back. Give him a proper lesson.”

Having been rejected twice by Yang Ze, the man's pride had been wounded, and he finally lost patience.

Looking at the crowd surrounding him, Yang Ze's expression grew solemn. Since he had been visiting the Scripture Repository, he had not brought a weapon with him. It seemed he might truly fall into their hands today.

Just as the fight was about to begin, a violent gust burst from the entrance of the Scripture Repository and swept every member of the Yishui Sect off their feet, sending them crashing to the ground nearby.

“You people cause trouble around this time every year. No one bothers to control you when you are causing trouble below, and now you dare to fight at my doorstep. Do you have any regard for the academy's rules? Get out! If you dare do this again, I will expel every one of you from the academy.”

A hoarse voice rang in everyone's ears. The faces of the Yishui Sect members turned deathly pale.

Before they could react, an even stronger gust roared out. It wrapped around them and sent them all flying away.
