Chapter Seventy-Four: Rescue
So, having found a viable method, the woman prepared to begin treating the unconscious Zhao Ling’er.
“Wait!” Zhao Yuan called out to stop her.
“What is it?” the woman asked.
“The method you described—isn’t it essentially using yourself as a vessel to absorb that unknown power from Ling’er’s body?” Zhao Yuan said.
“Yes, at the moment it’s the only way,” the woman replied.
“But I’m still afraid something might go wrong. This method is just too dangerous; your body might not be able to withstand such a terrifying energy!” Zhao Yuan protested.
“Do you have any other good ideas? This is all we have left now. Perhaps I might—”
Zhang Shaoju glanced at the bill, expecting a hefty amount, but it turned out to be much less. He turned to Ye Qing and spoke.
One after another, the bodies of the White Bird clan fell from the sky to the ground—ten in total, not a single one more or less.
Yet, to truly betray Liu Bei and join Sun Quan, Meng Da was not ready for such a step. The problem was, he had already taken over this band of musicians; how would he explain it in the future?
As she spoke, Nie Qing tossed the keys to Cao Yue. Cao Yue took the keys without hesitation and got in the car. Zheng Han blushed and slipped to the side, a little intimidated by Nie Qing’s bluntness.
Xu Huang did not pursue, but withdrew back to the camp. As soon as he dismounted, a soldier reported that “Huang Zhong” had turned back and was once again outside, cursing and provoking. He had even dismounted, sitting or lying on the ground in utter disregard.
After A Gui spoke, Xia Tian and A Fu nodded in agreement. Only Wang Yachao glanced at A Gui with an inscrutable look.
Qian Chu jumped down, followed by the others one by one. Lin Yu watched the giant demon, unsure how he would descend.
After Xiao Shan finished speaking, he quickly turned around. What met his eyes was a face he could never forget in his lifetime. A surge of emotion swept over Xiao Shan’s heart; his mind felt as if struck by a bolt from the blue, thunder reverberating through his thoughts. He never imagined that Qing Ying would turn out to be him.
“It’s time for the opening ceremony,” Flame said, glancing at the dormitory clock and turning to us.
As Hongkou stepped out from the spacious Japanese-style courtyard, a black car was parked by the gate. Xiao Shan and Xie Tian got out. At that moment, a Japanese soldier in uniform approached, respectfully addressing Xiao Shan and Xie Tian.
Rakshasa absorbed spiritual energy from heaven and earth while furiously channeling sinister energy into Chen Fan for training.
At that moment, I began to survey my surroundings. I looked around; everywhere were towering trees, the ground slightly damp, but I saw no sign of danger.
When it rains, it pours. People are often like this: when luck runs out, even a sip of cold water can get stuck in your teeth. The culprit who sent the threatening letter had yet to be found, and the Japanese side was restless again, dispatching numerous commercial spies to infiltrate Starry Sky Company in hopes of stealing the formula for the strengthening serum.
Li Lianjie’s eyes brightened. He quickly got up to fetch the strengthening serum he had set aside earlier, tearing open the packaging in a few swift motions to reveal a vial inside.
At this moment, members of both the Crab Gang and Stone Gang turned their attention to the Frenzied Shark Gang. I flexed my muscles, preparing myself for the upcoming contest. If I lost, it would be a real embarrassment. Suddenly, I recalled a saying: “The act you began, you must finish, even if it makes you cry.”
“What’s the temperature?” Zong Ming’s voice rang out. Li Weis looked up and saw him walking in from outside, holding a cup of hot water and still wrapped in a bathrobe.
Even Central Authority wouldn’t dare; even if his strength was unrivaled, with three hundred out of eight hundred generals rallying to his side, he wouldn’t dare, because the entanglements among the eight hundred generals were far too many for any number to explain.
Not far away, at the edge of the flower bed, a slacker lay sprawled, only to be yanked up by Chen Fan and kicked several meters away, teeth flying and blood spurting from his mouth.
As they crossed the river, Hou Andu, taking advantage of the deserted surroundings, suddenly shoved Chen Chang into the Yangtze, drowning him. Officially, it was announced that Chen Chang drowned after his boat broke down.
